What is MG21 Middle Campus?
MG21 Middle Campus is the charter middle school, serving grades 6-8, within the Monona Grove School District. MG21 Middle Campus is part of the larger Monona Grove Liberal Arts Charter School for the 21st Century. MG21 Middle Campus has the same mission, pillars and unifying principles as the MG21 Upper Campus (high school), but delivers its curriculum through a lens that focuses on relationships, wellness and academic skills for the whole child.
1. Healthy Mind and Body: (Relationship with Self and Learning)
2. Healthy Community: (Relationship with Community)
Why We’re Successful
The traditional school structure — the schooling most of us experienced — doesn’t fit for many students. We know that not all students learn the same way. Simply, we are trying to fit square pegs into round holes.
WHAT DOES THE MG21 MIDDLE CAMPUS DO?
MG21 provides more choice for what students learn and how they show what they have learned.
Students are creating rather than testing.
Relationships and community-building are prioritized at the school.
HOW DO WE DO THIS?
Rather than simply teaching subjects, we educate the “whole person” through

WILL THIS PROGRAM READY MY STUDENT FOR HIGH SCHOOL?
Yes! MG21 Middle Campus is designed to prepare middle schoolers to navigate and connect to the real world. Our goal is to ensure that all Middle Campus students develop both strong academic core skills in reading, writing, and math, as well as strong social emotional skills.
MG21 Middle Campus students are free to choose their high school path; MG21 Upper Campus or Monona Grove High School.
A student who has attended MG21 Middle Campus does not need to apply to attend the MG21 Upper Campus.
