Library Partnerships

Book Club

Every trimester we pick a new book in conjunction with the Monona Public Library. This partnership facilitates discussion while also engaging students in thoughtful reflection through hands-on projects. At the end of the trimester we visit the library to engage in one final discussion with library staff while enjoying pizza and treats.

One Community, Many Voices: Story Jam

MG21 students and community members collaborated in a story extravaganza of personal narratives on the theme of “Walking Your Path.” Five students and one teacher fearlessly shared their stories on stage at the Monona Public Library.

In this ongoing project students will also learn interviewing and audio recording techniques. Interviews will be broadcast on local radio station WVMO 98.7 and available through other formats, such as a library-hosted web-page.

Through the power of story, this project connects people and creates community. The library will interview, record and collect stories from a wide variety of community residents and organizations. This “story bank” will be housed in and hosted by the library.
